Grief Counseling

Grief is a normal and healthy emotional response to the loss of someone or something important to us. We grieve for many different reasons:

  • ┬áDeath of a loved one, including pets
  • ┬áSeparation/Divorce or change in a significant relationship
  • A change in your health due to a long-term illness or disability
  • Job loss or change in financial security
  • Life stage transitions (e.g. relocation, empty nest, retirement)

The way we experience grief is as uniquely individual as our fingerprints, no two are alike. Walking through a season of life that has been touched by a loss or deep regret can be difficult to do on your own. Grief can alter us in ways that are physical, emotional, social, and spiritual.

A few symptoms you may be experiencing are:

  • Crying and sighing
  • Headaches
  • Loss of appetite
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Weakness
  • Fatigue

  • Feelings of sadness and yearning
  • Feelings of worry or anger
  • Feelings of frustration or guilt

  • Feeling detached from others
  • Self-isolation from social contact
  • Behaving in ways that are not normal for you

  • Searching for the meaning behind the loss
  • Questioning your faith/where God is in your pain
  • Facing your own awareness of mortality

If you are feeling alone or inconsolable in your grief please reach out so that we can discuss next steps for helping you find ways to cope and adjust to life after a loss.
